Please do not delete or remove my comments again -- I think this is important. Ted Sampley is now attacking John Kerry. I am not a Kerry fan but Ted Sampley is nothing but trash and I want people to know what Sampley and his "vietnamveteransagainstjonkerry" are about. Ted is getting lots of money from a lawyer in Washington, DC to run the site against Kerry and he is still asking for donations that will go straight into his pocket. I think when a person goes about speaking awful of anther person they should do so with candor and with their real name. I can not use my real name in this instance nor can I explain why. Ted Sampley married while he was in Okinawa. He brought his bride to the states and they had a daughter. Ted's wife developed kidney failure and at this crucial time in her life he abandoned her and his daughter. He rarely paid child support, and moved in with a woman and her children. Her kids were in class with his daughter. This story is meaningful because Ted has harped for years about the way Senator McCain "left his wife when she became a cripple following a car accident, and paid her no honor for the time she waited for his return as a POW". Two faced. His concern for fellow veterans is horrific. He had an affair with Kitty Fitzgibbons of Wilmington, NC (a local news personality) who was then married to Scott Fitzgibbons, a friend of Ted's. Scott was a return Vet and amputee. Ted Sampley has used his service in Vietnam to exploit teenage girls. In the late 80's he was repeatedly invited to speak at Kinston High School, Kinston, NC to share the history of Vietnam and talk about the POW/MIA issue. Instead he used this and a venue to meet underage girls, some he even hired for his t-shirt printing business. Here he met Stephanie Robinson and Jamie Summerlin. Both girls under the age of 18 had affairs with Ted Sampley. Ms. Summerlin actually thought she had become pregnant by Ted. In addition, to ensure his interests were always printed in The Kinston Free Press, Ted had a lengthy affair with this friend Bruce's fiancée. Her name was Tanya and she was engaged to Bruce the owner of The House of Wang in Kinston, NC. Ted Sampley has played on the feelings of many family members and concerned citizens over the years in the POW issue. He used Margaret Nevin founder of Homecoming II to secure their organization when she and her husband parted ways. He used Delores Alfond's emotions for years to obtain her monies and energies for the POW issue. He used the Standerwick sisters (3 of them) for years to have them perform radical protests. Between the three of them there were many arrests, being thrown out of Thailand, and an affair with a married Karen Standerwick. Probably his most public use of a POW/MIA family member was his second wife Robin Owen. He had a five year affair with her while she was married and he was living with a woman. When he learned that she was pregnant with their son, he married her to save face in the Veteran Community but had no plans to stay married to her. He had an affair with Cheyenne Borton (an under age teenager that was living in the Homecoming II House outside of DC) while she was pregnant and waiting to see if they would marry. During her pregnancy he gave her a black eye and nearly broke her nose. The night their son was born, he was else where again having another affair with a young teenager. This marriage only lasted two years, as Robin finally left the brute, but to this day, Ted Sampley continues to capitalize on his ex father in law. All his magazines and news letters spout the name of Robert D. Owen. Every opportunity he gets he takes their son to Washington and using him to help market materials for the POW/MIA issue. If the man really cared about Robert Owen, one would think that he might have better cared for his daughter, Robin. Recently, Robin took Ted to court to force him to return their son to her. He had promised her that following 5th grade their son could complete 6 - 12 grade in her care. Ted knowingly took their son after the 2nd grade, planning to never return him. The judge in the case had to rule in Mr. Sampley's favor because NC recognizes what is called defacto. In other words because Robin had allowed her son to be him for 4 years during the school week, Ted already had possession. Unless she could prove that her son was being sexually, mentally or physically abused, she could not get him back. She spent nearly $23,000.00 and lost. In her case she was able to show that Ted had no income, an unfit residence, no transportation, was diligent on numerous bills and loans, and that most of the time their son was in the care of yet ANOTHER woman (Jan Barwick) and her entire family that Ted has been using for over ten years now, but has refused to marry. Throughout his history of abuse Ted has used a long list of people to help further his causes, most of them in the public arena including writers, reporters, family members, congressional aides, Congress Men and other veterans. The following is a small list of the people he has manipulated; Donna Long, her son BJ, Bobby Garwood, Congressmen- Billy Hendon, Denny Smith, Bob Smith, Beth Stewart, Bobby and Beth Bishop, Kendra Aaron, Tracy Usery, Tim Tripp, Tracey Owen, Jim Hobbs, Jerry Kiley, Michael Clark, Karen Standerwick, Sherrill Standerwick Long, John and Marget Nevin, Ben Alford, Cheyenne Borton, Charmaine Jewell, Jamie Summerlin, Stephanie Robinson, The Kinston Free Press, The Raleigh News and Observer, The Star News, Greg Barnes, Jan Barwick and family, Ross Perot, Senator Jessie Helms and staff, Scott Barnes, Susan Keating, Dennis Daly, Larry Brice, Gino Casanova, Red McDaniel, Lynn Hampton, Bill Sullivan, Michael Bates, George Handyside, Michael Clark and so many hundreds of others that have sat mesmerized by this twisted man and still don't realize the pawn they have been in his self promoting campaign. To Ted Sampley ............... may you one day get yours............ firmly planted up your ass!

of comments. Exposing the National POW Strike Force is a service to every American concerned with the POW/MIA issue, But to lump the Familes in with the likes of Jordan is a disservice that I can not agree with. Also, while you are exposing phonies and those doing harm to the POW/MIA issue why haven't you spoke out against John Kerry? John Kerry was still a Navy Reserve officer when he met with the communist in Paris. Kerry accused honarable servicemen of "widespread attrocities". How come he has never been able to provide the proof or those making the claims? Read the Select Committee on POW/MIA Affairs report. There is no doubt there was Americans left in Vietnam but Kerry's family fortunes was more important than that of real Americans. Why is it hidden that after President Clinton ordered the reports and interviews be released to the familes Kerry had them destroyed to cover his lies. Then soon afterwards his family signed contracts with communist government making his family hundreds of millions of dollars. If these people gave a tinkers damn about the military they would look at his anti-American voting record and efforts to reduce our Intelligence communities. This is while he is voting to turn our countries protection over to the united nations. Do we want the POW/MIA issue to repeat itself? If we don't we must stand united against"The John" Kerry.

This is in response to the comment above by "Steve Dall."  Sir, your comments are nonsense and are not based in fact.  Let's look at some facts.  Kerry meeting with the North Vietnamese in Paris:  Kerry was only one of many Americans who met with the North Vietnamese in Paris as part of the Nixon administration's attempts to bring pressure on the Vietnamese to return US POWs and end the war.  Obviously you are not aware of the fact that members of the National League of Families of Prisoners and Missing met with North Vietnamese several times, as did other individuals and groups, all at the behest of the Nixon administration.  The rest of your comments are equally without basis in fact.  I testified before the SSC and worked with the SSC staff as a member of DIA and DPMO.  Neither Kerry nor anyone else destroyed any documents.  President Clinton did not order anything be released to the families -- it was President Bush I who signed the executive order to release files, etc., publicly -- and that was done except in a few cases where families requested that their missing man's file not be made public.  Finally, as to your claim "There is no doubt there was Americans left in Vietnam (sic)," wrong again.  No Americans were left behind in SEAsia.  At the end of the war in 1973, all US POWs were released.  Period.

Once upon a time.... Kerry made a trip to Vietnam , before trade was opened with the Communist Government of VN. He took some "committee members " with him , inclusive of some vets. He had made known to POW interested people that the main purpose of this trip concerned living POW left behind . When the group returned , news releases and press conferences indicated they had met the ex-enemy , forgiving each other for fighting in their country. However , they had no information on living POW. Strangely enough , much talk of OPENING TRADE with the Communists had occurred and was revealed. We remember these press conferences vividly , as our interest was in our fellow comrades and friends who had been abandoned after the war in SE Asia. Our interest was not in money , or opening businesses in VN. No one can deny that this trip and follow -up news conferences containing this information did occur. National media covered it well at the time . We did not see the VN veteran , well decorated for heroism on the Delta boats , fighting Communists for a few months. What we did see was the veteran who returned , disenchanted by a war of which HE disapproved , and of the Fonda ilk. One who had turned full time politician , who had claimed a priority of POW on his trip's agenda ....but returned talking of trade ..... By the way. It seems that some still believe that USG left living American POW behind after Operation Homecoming. They are correct. We did . PERIOD. END OF DENIAL.

Colonel, PERIOD, is a strong word to use in defining there were no POW'S remaining in SEAsia after 1973. If my memory serves me correct Laos lies directly in that region. We lost over 500 pilots, soldiers(Special Forces, SOG, ETC),in Laos, never to be heard from again. Not one of these soldiers or remains have ever been returned home. When the negotiations were going on and the Laotians got word of the reparations that were promised to North Vietnam, the Lao government wanted to know what we would do about the "tens of tens" of Americans they held. Of course, we weren't supposed to be there and they were told they had to negotiate those in the deal with the North Vietnamese Gov't. Well, we all know how that went. You could not stake your life if depended on it that we didn't leave any POW'S in Vietnam anymore that I could that we did. Although, I think I would have a better chance. Although, today you can still go to the HO CHI MINH museum and find an American hanging there. Who might you ask? The traitor, John Kerry. He was their prized possession after hearing the slime that oozed from the sides of his mouth during his self-enduring Senate hearing bashing all who served in uniform in Vietnam. Who could ever forget the Senate Select hearings on the POW'S. What a travisty. The only guy with any nuts at that time was Bob Smith. Kerry's agenda, along with DOD, DIA, NSA,NSC etc. was to dispell the notion that we left anyone behind. That's total bullshit. Remember Laos? As I have said before, I went on two such missions. We were sure we had the goods, but as usual, were let down by the intelligence community. The bottom line was, if in fact, any prisoner surfaced after those proceedings, the US GOV'T would still have two black eyes to this date and probably would have changed the face and stature of the military today, knowing that if you were captured you could be given up for dead, while you rotted in some prison cell. It was a shameful and disgraceful act by those pantywaist in Washington, to include, those in the decision making process, be it all the aforementioned above, all the three letter community. You know, maybe you had to be in the real deep everyday shit, to understand, that we did wrong to these men and their families. We left them, they depended on America to come get them, but, the pencil necks in Washington just went slithering for the closest rock to crawl under. Can you imagine what would have happened if one of these men would have surfaced? Plenty of scum headed for cover. Every agency blaming the other. Those who chose to sacrifice these lives were cowards. PERIOD.

This message is for "Jim" whose uninformed comments are above. You need to read my article on Laos. Remains of many men lost in Laos have been recovered and more are being recovered all the time as field operations continue. As for your comments on Kerry, the level on nonsense you have displayed is amazing -- you really need to get out more and stop believing Ted Sampley, John McCreary, and the like. And that's the last I'll say on the subject. Period.

Joe, labeling someone "uniformed" is usually the best that you can do when you have no rebuttal or substance. I think everyone is wise. The fact remains that the MIA'S in Laos were never addressed and appropiate measures weren't taken to secure their release. No one can deny that. As for Kerry, it is a fact that his picture still hangs in the Ho Chi Minh museum and he is given plenty of credit for his anti-war stance and labeling soldiers as criminals. He spit on the graves of the heroes who died. Address that. He is a poor excuse for an ex-soldier. I think we always remember the railroad job that Kerry and the Senate Select Committee performed on the MIA'S. As for yor comment,"I should try to get out more" I try, being a disabled vet. You see Joe, I didn't ride a desk. Also, never met Ted, John and "the like". But what the hell, they are probably "uninformed". Also, a typical response for someone who has a hard time with their conscience and ashamed for a job poorly done. I can appreciate the fact why you wouldn't want to discuss it further.

At least he admits he mis-spoke. I am so disgusted. Evidently your limp-dick views are 100% correct and all 500,000 who took part in Rolling Thunder earlier this year are all wet. Interesting site.. I haven't read all of it, but what I have read is certainly surprising. I think it points out that intel is a tough line of work, and sometime you have to make conclusions that not a lot of people like or agree with.. Still.. John Plaster surmises that the Trinh Sat had penetrated SOG at the very highest levels. Does that imply that Bright Light was also penetrated? Frank Anton (in Why Didn't You Get me Out?) claims to have been debriefed/interviewed by "two Army Intelligence officers" that had close up aerial reconnaisance photos of all the camps he was in (in SOUTH Vietnam!) that were dated when he was a prisoner in those camps. He also talks about seeing an Army Captain in a helicopter 40 feet above his head while in prison. He asks a very, very good question. If we knew that where he and others were, why didn't we get them out? SGT Rock

This is a superb book, I can't recommend it enough! I am a veteran, not a Vietnam veteran (it was before my time), but I have always had the greatest respect for Vietnam veterans and this book reinforces my feelings. You dispell many myths and false impressions of Vietnam veterans. Vietnam vets are no different than those of WWI, WWII and Korea, their country called and they went and served and deserve the recognition that is long overdue to them. May God bless you for writing this book.

I just feel maybe I need to apologize somehow to all of the POW-MIA's and their families! I got a bracelet way back in 1970 and wore it always and prayed for the person whose name was on it as well as all of the others and their famlies, and I kept it for many years ( even though I became unable to wear it due to allergies). Anyway, just a few years ago I was moving and I found it and for some reason or other.... just threw it away! I'm so sorry.... I don't even remember the man's name... I really truely wish I still had it! I didn't mean to forget........ so to try and find a little comfort for my thoughts I've been displaying one of those stick- on black ribbons for the POW-MIA cause. Thanks for listening! Very good site! Keep after the phony veterans, they do more harm than good. I was in VietNam with the 1st Cav, Div. 1965-1966 and returned to VietNam with the 82nd. Abn. Div. in 1968 during the Tet Offensive. Reading about R&R's in other countries, I would have loved to have gone on R&R to Australia, but I was only given a three day pass to Sagion and I spent the three days drunk. Airborne!

I started "buying" the bracelts back in the late 70's/early 80's, out of respect for my then boyfriend (who is still a very very close friend of mine). He was in the Air Force, so those were the bracelets I looked for. I've gotten all my bracelets via local VFW's. I'm proud to wear them and am glad to know how to find out the current status of the people whose names are on my bracelets (I have 3). This is an interesting site. Thank you.

I never had time before, angola,911 etc..., to review your summary of me on your report of OP Wild Fire. However I did today. Many of my handlers and IMF's have made jokes, and even responded to your postings, and said I should respond to your postings. I should have never sent you a message in the first place it has caused me a lot of internal office trouble. We used to have a joke DIA IQ requirement 30 or less, by responding I matched your IQ, not good. But now I have retired. I have put up with want to be intellegence bimbos all my life, I think its time to put one of you out of business. Consulant vs Lifer. I'm going to start with you. Are you ready. I hope you can make this interesting so please, please, try your best. Will start my attack soon. Here's some question neither Ross or Mr. Pierce funded us. So who did? Ahh!!!!!! Country Club Prision 6 months nice vacation time: to get back in shape , Punishment or health club? AHH!!!!! Typical x--DIA Mickey Mouse Intelligence. Las Vegas Country Club? 300,000 Condo at 4000 a month on no income or have something to do with NSA? Gee I wonder? You know if we had your cooperation instead of incompendence maybe instead of Garwood we we would have many others home by now like Sheldon. So Attack, Attack, Attack, and I will defend. I only hope you are hornorable enough to post my resposnes and files I have collected over the years. And I know you will as you are surely an honorable man as you were an officer. I respect and will truefully agree or disagree with your conclusions despite what you believe about me. And by the way Yes I retired in the Peoples Republic of China. John Greenwood retired in Washington State, want to talk to him or has the cat got your tongue? Richard

I found your site through another link off lighthorseaircav. I wish my oldest bro was alive to see this site. He served in 'Nam during the 60's several tours. He would love this. Keep up the good work. As for me, I'm one of those era vets post vietnam and make no claims of herosim. I was multi purpose (MP) and never layed claim to being a good soldier. just one who wanted his tour over and get the heck out. Several weeks ago, I ran into a guy down in Portland Ore that claimed to have been DSA/NSA, yada yada. From past conversations with my older bro (Marine ReCon)it didn't take long to figure out the dude was just a dude talking trash trying to impress the bartender and one up and coming recording artist that just ets'd from the marine corp! I listened to his line of crap, then decided he wasn't either one. If he was, his butt shoulda been in jail or at least in combat earning his 'bravery'. Anyway, I really like the sites I've found. I thought the story of the nsa/dsa guy might make your day. and to think I used to chase guys like him around the block?? hooraah!

I like the site very much, it gives everyone a chance to voice their opinions, no matter how right or wrong they may be. I enjoyed Mr. Destatte's article about Baron 52 and agree with the majority of it, and the parts that I don't agree with are minor in detail. I was with the 6994th during that time frame. We were in the process of moving the unit from Saigon to Thailand where it was being split up between Ubon and NKP. I was still in Saigon when Baron 52 was shot down. There was a problem with the number of U.S. forces in Thailand and the governments were trying to iron things out putting us in a waiting mode. I finally arrived at NKP on 10 Feb 73 in time to attend the memorial services at the base chapel for our crew members. I know the "radioman" who went in on the Jolly Green to examine the crash site after it was found. He eventually logged over 700 missions on the EC-47s in Southeast Asia and he believes that our guys were killed in the crash. Also, in the 90's I had a few conversations with the brother of one of the backend crew who still believed that at least some of the crew members may have made it out of the aircraft alive. At the time I was working for the NSA as a civilian and he wanted to know if I could find any historical info about the incident. As much as I would like to believe that some of them made it out alive, I could find nothing that would convince me of that fact. I still wear a POW/MIA bracelet bearing the name of one of the backend crew of Baron 52. It is a constant reminder of the people we lost during that war and I wish with all my heart that I could be proven wrong and I could see some of our guys welcomed back home. Keep the faith. I, for one, will never forget. Take care, Al

I recently received my POW/MIA bracelet. I am very interested in learning about Sgt. Andrew Thomas Brassfield, missing since 04-06-70. I'm glad i came across this web site. I am truly thankful to all the men and women who have served this country. I was very sheltered from the Vietnam war while growing up. My parents didn't talk about it nor was it on television until after I was in bed. I am angry about the way our men were treated after their return from a war they did not want to fight in ti begin with. My heart goes out to all the families who lost loved ones or still have loved ones missing.

I wish the government would do something about him... he lives in bancok and hides at his mothers house when he comes back to the country... to me he is the worst.
